Anybody want to start a RP based on my fanfic in ToP?  Seems like a good idea to me!  I mean, it's Dinotopian, and it centers around the Rainy Basin, right?  (Logical...) We can make the rules standard... We could use any or all the characters in it... (Or make up our own!) The landscape both above and below ground is pretty well described... All we need is Rp participants and it should be a piece of cake!...  LMK what you think; or if you think yes, post your characters here! (You know... Name, Gender, Species, Description, effects, Talents, Bio...)  _ |

Hey Rosa! It's never too late to start posting here! If you want to read about 'Empire of the Carnivores', the mini-novel is located in the 'Temple of Ploemic'. (It's VERY long, and I had to write it in FOUR threads!... It took me over a year to write!) Happy hunting, and good reading!  |

Just wanted to let you know that I have been reading your story and it's very interesting.  I still have a long way to go though. As of right now I am not ready to try an rp based on your story. However, I'd really like to start a Dinotopia rp with new characters and new settings. Would you be interested if we tried to start one like really soon? I don't care if we don't even have a plan in mind. I'm willing to simply create as it goes until a good ending is finally within sight. Also, would you be interested (and anyone else of course) in doing the rp here, at the Temple, or at the OMB? Let me know what you think. In the mean time, I'll be in Microsoft Word, writing...  |

Great!  Can't wait to get started! Any ideas for a starting point? I'm considering using a few of my fanfic characters since I'm already familiar with them. That would save some time trying to figure out character personalities, history, location etc. Of course, these characters have never been used in any rps before. What about starting in Sauropolis or somewhere near there? I'll have to check out your fan fic. The one I've been working on lately is called The Turquoise Dolphins. A long time ago I posted a little about it it, but I've changed it since then and added a whole lot more. I've been longing to post this story, but am trying hard to wait until I'm closer to being finished so in case I run into writers block, no one will be disappointed, if you know what I mean.  Anyway, back to rp ideas. Another place I thought would be fun to start at would be Treetown, and the surrounding areas. I have no idea really of a plot right now, but maybe that will come after some random posting. ;D We wouldn't exactly have to come up with a specific title until we have a better idea of what rout the story is taking. Do you want to make the first post? What are your thoughts? |

Well, as you know, 'Empire of the carnivores' is set predominantly in the Rainy Basin.
Almost all of the characters are carnivores (I love the little Kirky characters I made up! Thier voices sound like 'Alvin and the chipmunks'!). But there are a few that are other dinosaurs and quite a few humans. If you want to start some place else in another type of fanfic, that's fine too. I just figured that since this is the rainy Basin resort, we could start fanfics just for the carnivores (Let's give the Sharpteeth thier say, and all!). I know it is a stretch, being Dinotopia based and all, but I thought that idea was worth a try.
(Maybe it could be done as one based far in the past, where smaller carnivores are just beginning to become civilized and travel outside the rainy basin. They could learn the ways that other dinosaurs live, and wean themselves off the need for meat somehow...)
(They meet lots of opposition and ridicule, and try to curb thier less than civil reactions to this; but eventually they are accepted as they prove thier earnestness to change as well as thier usefulness to society...)

Mild mannered Dromeosaurs that think of a better way...
Troodonts that think that interaction with other dinosaurs is the best way to go...
Ovaraptors that try to protect thier children...
All smaller winged dinosaurs that rather be safe than constantly hiding...
And any other sort you can think of!
Dinosaurs that can't compete with the other carnivores in the Rainy Basin.
They move away from there, to other parts of the island...

Another idea for the time setting for this story could be back when some of the larger cities of Dinotopia are established--possibly the code too. I think it would be interesting to make a story in that sort of halfway point. The carnivores generally stay within vicinities such as the Rainy Basin, the Blackwood Flats, and a few other remote areas, but they haven't all agreed to the code yet. At this time there wouldn't be very many small villages. I imagine that most of the dinosaurs living in peace with the humans would be the herbavores and very few carnivores. On the other hand, the idea of putting the time setting as far back as you mentioned is really intruiging! However, I would feel a little lost going so far back, if you know what I mean. Of course, maybe writing a story back then would be easier since there's not as much Dinotopian history to keep track of. A title? Hmmm...I always have trouble finding a title before I start writing. Usually the title comes to me after I've plunged into the story. I'll try something new and give it a stab anyway. Let's see..."Rough is the Road"..."Outcast or Ally?"..."A New Song"...  This isn't working! Major writer's block. I get it every time I try to come up with titles.  lol. What are your ideas? |
